Rombongan sambil berlari di Hatyai

We decide to rent a bus for Hatyai Marathon 2010 on 30 May. A 2D1N trip. The bus will 'take-off' on Saturday (29May) early morning from Bukit Mertajam using PLUS highway until Bukit Kayu Hitam or Danok and return back on next day (Sunday - 30May)

Before Bukit Kayu Hitam, we will drop somewhere around Changlon for money exchange and jot down name and category for Hatyai Marathon registration.

For room, we'll book 2 guests for a room. If need a room let me know. We'll arrange like what we did last year during Hatyai Nature Run 2009.

After the run, we will return to hotel for check-out and return back to Bukit Kayu Hitam after lunch. Urut? pergi lar a night before tuh.

The fee is RM200/pax including hotel and bus fare only. This fee is not fix, depend on group hotel reservation. Might be less or might be more. We'll collect or return any extra during return trip. I won't take any profit for this rombongan.

I will join the rombongan from PLUS Gurun R&R (Butterworth -> AlorStar). Those who interested to join me, I can help you park the car on the other side of PLUS Gurun R&R (AlorStar -> Butterworth) or park the car at my office. Only 5 mins drive.

Left a message or email me ( if interested to join with us and RM100 deposit needed as confirmation.

Report: Shoestring Run 2010

By Aiman Cheah

Date: 18 April 2010
Venue: SRK Bukit Kemuning (2)
Time: 7.30
Category: B Family Run (with children below 12 years old)
Distance: 3 km

My children have always enjoyed this event because of the presence of the clown. I like it because there are ample of prizes - never mind if doesn't get one as this is a charity event.

I am quite prepared for this race as I managed to jog at least twice prior to the event albeit for only 4.2km each time. I think I was slightly faster than last year but the time still should be more than 19 minutes. I had forgotten to stop the stopwatch after crossing the finishing line. I had a better timing because there were fewer participants and I was not blocked - as usual I would start from the back.

I finished 5th which was very good for me. The winner was just too good. Great potential to don national colours in future if well groomed. One good thing about this race is the sportsmanship shown by the competitors especially in Category A. The poor runners were misled by the marshall, robbing them the chance to win.

The race winners showed true sportmanship by giving way to the 'losers'. He knows they were faster and deserved the 1st prize but lose out due to the the mistake of the road marshall.

I take my hat off to Mr Wong. Winning is not everything...

Ipoh International Run expects to attract 12,000 participants

NewStaitsTimes - 6 April 2010

IPOH: The Ipoh International Run (IIR) is back, targeting more than 12,000 participants from all over the world this year.

Set for July 18, Datuk Bandar Datuk Roshidi Hashim said the run, which was in its 15th year, attracted more than 10,000 participants last year with runners from Japan, Kenya, Thailand, the Philippines, Britain, India, Hungary and Indonesia.

"We are confident they will return this year and we are also expecting runners from other countries.

"We will hold promotions at shopping malls, schools and other public places to woo more locals to join the run," he said yesterday, adding that publicity campaigns would also be online to encourage international athletes to participate.

The mayor also said the city council would be doing promotions in Medan, Indonesia, southern Thailand and Singapore.

"For this year, a total cash prize of RM96,750 will be on offer for the first 20 winners while 1,600 medals will be given to top participants in all 11 categories contested," he said, adding that students were encouraged to participate through their schools.

The top three schools with the highest participation will win prizes worth RM18,000 and cash prizes worth RM2,250.

Local participants can sign up for either the 10km or 21km run while the 5km and 7km runs are reserved for those between 13 and 18 years old.

Only the 21km run is open to international participants.

Registration fee is RM20 for adults for the 21km run and RM10 for the 10km open. The fee for junior participants is RM5 per person.

"In order to accommodate the huge number of visitors, the Ipoh City Council Sports Complex will be turned into a camping area."

For inquiries, prospective participants can contact the city council's IIR secretariat at 05-2083377.
