Perak Iron Bound
Endurance Testing for Enthusiasts
ADVENTURE enthusiasts will get a chance to test their endurance in the Fourth Perak Iron Bound Challenge-Kerian Race 2005 which will be held at the Bukit Merah Laketown Resort in Taiping on Dec 10-11.
Competitors will be tested on tactical techniques and outdoor skills along routes which will take them to remote areas covering a distance of 35km.
The event, organised by SNR Adventure Consultant, takes the endurance one-day sprint warrior athlete and throws him/her them into the middle of an open lake, virgin jungle and a spectacular mountain and river.
Competitors must register on Participants had to be present on Dec 10 to register and have their bikes and gear checked.
SNR Adventure Consultant Company managing director Shamsuri Mohd Yatim said there will be no forced or artifical testing.
"Teams will use navigation skills, trekking, stream kayaking, traditional rafting rope handling, team mystery challenge and good team strategies," he said.
Also present were General Manager of Perak Tourism Action Council, Rahmad Ithnin, Director of Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board Perak, Rohaiza Haris, Kerian chief assistant district officer Mohamed Nasser Abdul Razak, General Manager of MK Land Holdings Berhad Corporate Communications Department Mohd Roslan Ali and representatives from sponsors. MK Land Holdings Berhad is the property developer of the resort.
Participants should reach the designated checkpoints and complete specific tasks at in challenge points and to finish the race in six hours to receive the with the tactical diagram race route and receive the " ‘Iron Bounder Cetificate’. A tactical diagram of the race route will be provided.
The event is divided into two categories men's team and mixed team with two competitors participants in each team.
The winner in each category stands to win RM2,000 cash, medals and products.
The runner-up, third and fourth place finishers get followed by RM1,500, RM1,000, RM500 respectively.
Shamsuri added that based on our past experience the organisers we are expecting competitors participants from France, Spain, Singapore and Thailand.
"We would normally get foreign competitors residing in Singapore" said Shamsuri.
The event is also expected to would certainly boost the tourism sector in the State.
