Go Back in Time 1957: Kuts Beaten in 10,000m

MOSCOW. Fri – Vladimir Kuts, Russian holder of the world 10,000 metres record was beaten over the distance during the Russian Champions last night by Peter Bolotnikov, whose time of 29min 9.8sec was the fastest in the world this year

Crowds swarmed on to the track to congratulate the 27 year-old Moscow clerk, who ran in London during the Britain-Russian match last weekend and finished third behind Gordon Pirie and Derek Ibbotson in the 5,000 metres

Kuts whose world record is 28min 30.5sec last night clocked 29min 10sec. He finished about three yard behind Bolotnikov – Reuter
