Mizuno River Kwai International Half Marathon 2014 - I'm going.

Officially I'm one of Mizuno River Kwai International Half Marathon 2014 participant.

A few reasons why,
1. I did watch The Bridge on the River Kwai movie years ago with Ayah while in primary school - It's historical place.
2. The oldest running event in Thailand
3. They claim it is the most scenic course in Thailand
4. Able to do a negative split
5. The longest train ride in my life
6. And probably the longest motorcycle ride in my planning.

Anyway.. I'm not alone. Cikgu YuSong already registered, probably his spouse will join too and another potential registered participant - Aznan Saad.

The BM Leopards club tengah dok komplot.... mau pecah RKHM tahun ni..

  • Hi Haris,
All the best for this run. Are you going by train or motorcycle? The race venue is about 70 kilometres from Kanchanaburi town and the resort hotel is just about the only thing there although I think there are 1 or 2 guesthouses about a kilometre away. There's no train station there. It's true that this is the oldest running event in Thailand and it's possible to do a negative split because the it's a straight out and back route with the first 8km generally uphill so that means the last 8km is downhill. I don't agree with part about being scenic: the run is along the main road (very little traffic) and I never saw the river while running along the road. The actual bridge on the River Kwai is about 5km from Kanchanburi town. It's about half a km off the main road.

  • Hi SeniorVet,

It's been a long time since our last email. Many thanks for drop by a message. I guest you had be there? when?

Ya.. looking on map, 200km more from bangkok or 80++km from Nakhon Pathom Railway station. Initially i'm planning using both method. Go with train (load a motorcycle) and return by motorcycle. Probably 1~2 bike friends will join.

The event not nearby train station? Then.. need to rent a van if coming in group?

SeniorVet, I lost yr email could you send a message to alharis@yahoo.com. Really need yr experience.
