Located near to my hometown Sg. Bakap, I had join/run their 2005 event. Detail and registration form available at Forms and Events section.

..email/message from Mr.Khoo.

I'm Mr. Khoo, secretary in the organising committee of Larian Muhibbah NTCRC 2010. I'm also one of your hardcore blog reader.

Good news for runners in the Northern Region, after a lapse of 5 years, the Larian Muhibbah NTCRC is coming back! It will be held on 7 Nov 2010, 2 weeks before PBIM. The distance of the run is only 6 km for lady and 8 km for men.

Perhaps this is a good warm-up for PBIM. This date is choosen because the running calendar is already full for the month of October and November except for 7 Nov 2010, we are left with no choice but to take it.

Sorry for the Hindus but who knows may be it is a good idea to wake up early on the third day of Deepavali, run and go back at 8.30am or so, and continue with the celebration after a good bath....

Report: Junior Development Programme - Circuit 3

Date: 26 September 2010 | Sunday | 7.30am
Venue: KLFA Football Stadium, Bandar Tun Razak, Cheras
Distance: 5 000m
Category: H Men Open (Above 18 years old)
Result: Did Not Start (DNS)

This is my second DNS in a race. The first one was PJ Half Marathon in 2007. On both occasions, I overslept! I have to admit that I was very frustrated after all the preparations. Actually I should have enough rest but was awakened twice at around 3 and 4 in the morning! My son could not sleep as his body was itchy. I had planned to wake up at a quarter by 5.

Not only will I take part in the JDP 3rd circuit, I intended to go for a charity walk - Walk of Hope which is held in Taman Tasik Permaisuri. Since it is not a competitive walk, I thought that I could join the event after the JDP Walk. I need not wait at the stadium because only top 3 will get the medals. I can count myself out as BJSS boys would be too fast for me. My target is just to dip blow 30 minutes and not be lapped more than thrice!

Well, since I would be fasting tomorrow, I thought it would be best that if I went all out at the MPSJ stadium in the afternoon. I went to Mid-Valley for the World Heart Day event at iHEAL Medical Centre. It was certainly a very informative event.

My children took part in the colouring contest. Not too many children and therefore, Afiqah managed to get a consolation prize. A box of Pelikan crayons and half a dozen of Pelikan 2B pencils.

The part that they enjoyed most was when the clown was around!

I went to MPSJ stadium at around half past five. Quickly did warming up and stretching as the weather did not look too favourable. I was lucky because it did not rain. I guessed it must have rained heavily earlier as the were puddles of water on the track.

My result was very encouraging. If I could maintain my fitness until the end of the year, I am sure that I would be able to prevent myself from being overlapped by more than twice by the winners and at the same time trying to eye for the last podium finish.

Report: 1Malaysia ChinWoo Walk

Date: 19 September 2010 (Sunday)
Time: 7.30 a.m.
Venue: ChinWoo Athletic Association Selangor and Kuala Lumpur
Distance: 5km
Category: D Men Open (19-45 years old)
Result: 31 mins 50 secs
Position: 4

Yesterday's race had certainly played a part in my fitness level. I was only hoping to be in the top 20 - at least to get a medal. Getting a trophy is a bonus - thanks to some disqualifications. I know it is always tough in a race walking event.

The race started almost 45 minutes later than scheduled. It was a formal event with speeches by VIP prior to the start.

I witnessed an ugly start. One participant just pushed through when the horn was sounded. The 'lady' in front of me responded with an elbow. Luckily, the incident did not turned too ugly as the guy was rushing to keep pace with the leaders.

This reminds me of the Genting Trailblazer last year - very sporting participants. Not only will they give way to faster runner but also be assisting you when going up. I have never experienced such sportsmanship in other events.

I had quite a good start as I managed to inch my way to the sixth row on the 'grid'. Although the road was narrow, the space was enough for me to march forward without having to shove other participants (any way, I have never done that in any of the races in the past and would not be doing it in future simply because I will never win! )

I managed to hold onto my position after about 5 minutes of the start. I was trying to pace with Wai Mun (Women Open Champion). I always admire her, despite her petite size she has such high frequency and long strides.

I managed to close the gap to about 30 metres after coming down the pedestrian bridge but I had made a grave mistake. I was left breathless for quite some time and that affected my rhythm. Soon, she pulled away and I lost sight of her. It was a struggle after that and I just to maintain my position.

I did have a strong finish. Going uphill is no joke when one is almost a spent force. Glad that I made it and I was told that I was 5th. That was certainly great! It would be a trophy. Better than what I had aimed for earlier. The time was not too bad either - just about 25 secs off the pace for each kilometere.

I thought I was disqualified or there was some mistake when the fifth winner was not me. Pleasantly surprised to be 4th!

Hope to accomplished failed missions during the 24th Malaysian Masters 5,000 m walk and today's walk of doing 6 mins per km in next week JDP Walk. I hope to maintain my fitness which is a challenging thing to do during school days.

Report: Stamford College 60th Anniversary 'Running-For-A-Cause'

By Aiman Cheah

Date: 18 September 2010 (Saturday)
Time: 8.15 a.m.
Venue: Dataran Petaling Jaya
Distance: 7.5km
Category: C Men Veteran (40 years old and above)
Result: no timing - battery went flat half way during the race
Position: 18

Racing after the month of Ramadan is always a challenge. But this year, I am in a better position because there is more time to get back into shape.

Started to do light training by swimming and having a short, very short distance jog with my kids on the second day of Raya. Even less than a kilometre on the beach had left me breathless!

I worked slowly to get to 6 minute per km running pace (8.4km) by Wednesday. That was very encouraging and after fasting on Thursday, I managed to do 6:15 per km pace for race walking for 4.2km.

I was quite confident of doing around 45min for this 7.5km run. I started off quite 'fast' as there were not too many participants - a smooth run. Unfortunately, I ran out of steam after about 14 minutes. That was after passing SMK La Salle, PJ. I started to walk and that was the end of my challenge. I kept stopping for a couple of times but managed to 'protect' my position.

About a km before finishing, Mr Jega (PACM ex-exco) overtook me. I tried to keep pace with him. It was a futile effort although I managed to get close to him, with the same frequency, I had the advantage of better stride. My heart could not keep up with the pace - stop to recover. However, I did manage to sprint towards to last 50 metres as if I had had a great race...

Not too bad to get 18th placing. I had wanted to take part in the open category because of the longer distance... but thinking about the short time to get myself back into shape after a whole month of resting and the possibility of challenging for the last medal - 20th position, I decided to go for the veteran category.

This race is also part of my fitness training for tomorrow's Chinwoo 1Malaysia Walk. I guess I should be fit enough to at least challenge for the 20th position, the last position for medal. Even if I were to miss it, being able to do close to 6 mins per km would be an achievement!
