Insyallah akan panjangkan lagi aktiviti sebegini.

Sepanjang 3D2N di Kampung Pisang aku sempat buat 10km trail run test laluan ke Pos Kuala Mu.

Just posting/sharing readable format of my article, Ride Itik: SP to Tarutao which were featured in KAPCAI (May 2014 edition) and LIBUR (Jun 2014 edition) magazines couple of months ago. Original write-up is here.

Insyallah we will organize again, the Ride Itik: SP to Tarutao II. Highly hope the 12th. Tarutao Retrace Minimarathon will be held again next year by Tourism of Satun, Thailand.

Kali ni catatan Ride Itik: SP To Koh Tarutao 2014 telah disiarkan dalam majalah LIBUR. Sebuah majalah kembara terbitan Kumpulan KarangKraf yang memaparkan lokasi percutian serta gaya hidup penduduk tempatan dan luaran.

Heritage walk to raise funds for Red Crescent

HERITAGE enthusiasts can take part in the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Heritage Walk 2014 on June 22. The walk, jointly organised by the MRC Penang branch and Kwong Wah Yit Poh, will be held for the sixth year.

Event organising chairman Loh Nam Hooi said the walk this year would incorporate an additional 1.5km to the route.

“Heritage lovers can enjoy a 6.5km walk in George Town.

“The places they will pass by include the Yeap Kongsi, Poh Hock Seah Temple, Dr Sun Yat Sen Penang Base, Penang Islamic Museum, St George’s Church, Kuan Im Teng (Goddess of Mercy Temple), Sri Mahamariamman Temple and Masjid Kapitan Keling.

“We expect to raise more than RM150,000 for the MRC Penang branch to fund various humanitarian projects,” Loh said. He added that the walk was to mark the sixth anniversary of George Town being declared a Unesco World Heritage Site.

Loh said one of their humanitarian projects provided community-based ambulance service in three areas — Permatang Tinggi, Jalan Raja Uda and Batu Maung.

“We also need funds to train our members in first aid and rescue skills, disaster relief and management,” he added.

Registration forms for the walk are available at the MRC Penang branch at 26, Grove Road, and at the MRC north Seberang Prai Ambulance Service Office in Jalan Raja Uda, Butterworth. Registration fee is RM30 per person.

Each participant will receive a Heritage Walk T-shirt which has to be worn during the walk in order for the participant to qualify for a lucky draw.

The forms should be submitted by June 20.

Well-wishers are also welcome to donate to the event and those who give a minimum of RM300 will be entitled to take part in a ribbon- cutting ceremony.

News: 5,000 runners targeted for Kuching Marathon 2014

KUCHING: The newly established Kuching Marathon Association (KMA) are set to organise what is building up to be the biggest marathon in Sarawak in the second half of next year.

The association are anticipating a minimum of 5,000 participants to sign up for the Kuching Marathon 2014 which will have categories for 5km, 10km and 21km.

“Our vice president Philip Chua has been appointed as event director of Kuching Marathon to head the organising committee which will be set up next month,” said KMA pro-tem president Wong Chen Yi in a press conference yesterday.

News: One million women to walk into the record books

PETALING JAYA: A million women will walk into the records book with a street gathering in Putrajaya and similar events at 14 other locations nationwide on March 17 to mark International Women’s Day.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who will flag off the 1Million Women Purple Walk in the federal administration centre, will also launch the 1Malaysia Komuniti Perwani programme the same day.

The mentris besar and chief ministers will launch the walk in their respective states.

The walk, in conjunction with International Women’s Day on March 8, will be the first of its kind in Malaysia, said Women, Family and Community Development Ministry deputy secretary-general (strategic) Datuk Harjeet Singh.

He said 400,000 women were expected to gather in Putrajaya, while 600,000 others would rally at the other venues.

Among the host states that will see the biggest gatherings are Perak (with 60,000 participants), Kedah (46,000) and Penang (36,000).

“The main purpose of the walk is to show solidarity towards the Government’s commitment in empowering women in Malaysia and to celebrate the successes of Malaysian women in various sectors,” said Harjeet, when met recently.

He said the event would be celebrated like a carnival, with food stalls set up by government agencies and private companies, cultural shows and performances by local artistes.

In Putrajaya, The Nadi Putra bus services will provide free rides for participants travelling to the city for the gathering.

“While it is a day to celebrate the achievement of women, men are also welcomed to join in the walk.

“Men who wish to show their appreciation towards women and their achievements are most welcome to join us in this walk,” Harjeet said, adding that there was no participation fee to be part of the walk.

On the 1Malaysia Komuniti Perwani programme, he said it was a community-based event to implement the Government’s transformation plans within the women’s respective communities.

He said 100,000 women would be mobilised in groups of 10 or 20 to help carry out the transformation programmes.

News: Langkawi Geopark anjur Maraton Antarabangsa Nov ini

ALOR SETAR - Langkawi Geopark akan menganjurkan Langkawi Geopark International Marathon (LGIM) 2012 yang menyasarkan 20,000 peserta termasuk dari 27 negara Geopark bermula 30 November hingga 2 Disember ini.
  
LGIM dalam satu kenyataan di sini hari ini, berkata selain maraton, program juga akan diisi dengan dua lagi acara utama iaitu Seminar dan Pameran Antarabangsa Langkawi Geopark serta Ekspo Makanan Asli dan Organik.
  
Menurut kenyataan itu, pada seminar tersebut sebanyak dua kertas kerja akan dibentang di hadapan 800 peserta.
  
Selain itu, 60,000 pengunjung disasar menghadiri ekspo tersebut yang menyaksikan 27 negara Geopark mempamerkan makanan organik dan asli masing-masing, kata kenyataan berkenaan.
  
Bagi acara maraton pula, sebanyak 10 kategori dipertandingkan meliputi jarak larian antara lima hingga 42 kilometer mengelilingi pulau pelancongan tersebut.

News: Penang Starwalk is back

PENANG Starwalk returns for its 36th edition this year with new attractions added to the heritage route introduced last year to raise awareness on the rich culture of the state.



The event this time will fall on a Monday which is Sept 17, a replacement public holiday for Malaysia Day that falls on Sunday.

This year’s walk incorporates a heritage trail which is slightly different from last year’s route but it will still cover major scenic sites such as Fort Cornwallis, City Hall, Kapitan Keling Mosque and Sri Maha Mariamman Temple.

KUALA LUMPUR - Senario malam di pusat pentadbiran Putrajaya pada 20 Okt akan dimeriahkan dengan kehadiran 10,000 pelari dari seluruh dunia yang dijangka mengambil bahagian pada Marathon Malam BSN Putrajaya 2012.
  
Pengarah perlumbaan V.Nithiaseelan berkata maraton itu terbahagi kepada beberapa kategori iaitu 42km, 21km dan 10km di samping 10km Larian Korporat dan 5km Fun Run.
  
"Kami juga akan menganjurkan forum di negeri-negeri terpilih dan bercadang membawa pakar dalam pemakanan, pencegahan kecederaan dan psikologi ke semua forum itu," katanya dalam kenyataan di sini hari ini.

News: Major boost for Ipoh run

THE status of the annual Ipoh International Run has taken a big step forward following its recognition by the Education Ministry under the "One Student, One Sport" policy.


Organised by the Ipoh City Council, the event will come under the ministry's co-curriculum activities, which will account for 10 per cent of the students' passing grade, including five per cent for sports involvement.

The Ipoh International Run is also aimed at nurturing a sporting culture among students and enhancing awareness among society on the importance of sports.


The run, which is in its 17th edition, will be held in conjunction with the council's Ipoh City Day celebrations and Visit Perak Year 2012. The run is expected to be flagged off by Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir at 6.45am on July 1 at the Indera Mulia Stadium.


Ipoh mayor Datuk Roshidi Hashim said schools which field the highest number of participants would be given cash rewards. The school with the most number of entries will receive RM1,000, second place RM750 and RM500 for third place. "We are expecting some 13,000 runners, including foreigners for this year's edition," Roshidi told a press conference here recently.


The run is divided into 11 categories (21km, 10km, 5km and 7km) with a 5km Fun Run as a new event. Prizes will also be awarded to the best dressed participants in the Fun Run.


A total of RM96,750 in cash prizes are up for grabs. The highest prize of RM5,000 will be given to the Men's Open international winner and RM4,000 to the women's champion. The first 5,000 entrants will receive a T-shirt to be worn on the day of the run.


The organiser will promote the run in China, Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore apart from having registration counters and road shows in shopping complexes and schools. Last year, runners from the United States, Britain, Germany, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Ghana and Kenya participated in the run. Foreigners had dominated the events in the past.

Until 2 days ago while doing some housekeeping for hard disk storage space, found it. Checking on photo exif detail, this photo was taken on 15 February 2009. Same date I submit to TheStar Thumbnails.



It is orchid plant. Grown by mother in-law. When asking about orchid name, dia pon tak tau. Bought it somewhere in Ipoh she said.

FTAAA to hold relays as tribute to former president

THE Federal Territories Amateur Athletics Association (FTAAA) have taken another step in the promotion and development of athletics by organising a relays competition.

The FTAAA-Milo Relays, with three legs, is a tribute to Tan Sri Mohd Amin Osman, who after serving as FTAAA president for 27 years, stepped down recently. The venue for the three legs is the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium. The first leg will be on March 3, second on April 21 and the third on June 17.

The events in the relays are 4x100m for the Under-12, Under-15, Under-18 and Open — for both men and women; 4x200m for the Under-15 age groups (boys and girls); 4x400m (Under-18 and Open) for men and women; 4x800m (Under-18 boys).

The exciting event will be the medley where each team will comprise two men and two women. The first and second runner will run 200m; the third 400m and the anchor 800m.

Prizes will be given to the top three teams in each leg. After the third leg, the top eight teams, according to the accumulated points, will be awarded medals. Cash prizes will be given to the top three teams in the overall standings. The overall champions will receive the Tan Sri Mohd Amin Challenge trophy.

FTAAA secretary S. Vegiyathuman said the relays were included in their 2012 calendar to create more opportunities for athletes.

“The relays are the most exciting event in athletics. When we proposed this idea, the feedback was encouraging. We have come out with guidelines to make the relays interesting and exciting,’’ said Vegiyathuman.

The organisers are expecting clubs, associations and schools in the Klang Valley to make the relays a success. Points will be awarded to the teams in each leg.

Vegiyathuman said they were working on a mechanism of awarding the points, cash awards and entry fee per team.

“We are making an early announcement as we want the teams to be prepared. We have initiated the relays to attract the crowd to the stadium. The success of the relays will very much depend on the participating teams,’’ he said.

Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2015

An official agreement between Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad and Dirigo Events Sdn Bhd recently ensured the KL Marathon remains on the landscape and plans are already being laid for a participation of 27,000 runners at next year's edition.

Representing Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia as the marathon's title sponsor was its managing director and CEO Osman Morad. The event's co-organiser is Rainer Biemans, director of Dirigo Events.

The next Standard Chartered KL Marathon will be held on June 24 with participation expected from more than 45 countries.

The prize package will remain the highest among marathons in Malaysia, with a total prize money of US$100,000 (RM320,000).

"The elements of a marathon is a clear representation of the bank's brand philosophy - going the distance, persevering for excellence, a positive 'can-do' attitude, creativity and passion," said Osman.

"Year on year, we at Standard Chartered are encouraged by the enthusiasm as well as the determination and commitment all Malaysian and international runners show during the marathon.

"Just like a marathon, we are committed to the country for the long run and we are proud to be part of Malaysia's largest sporting event."

Biemans added: "We're overjoyed to be organising the next four Standard Chartered KL Marathons which continues to show exceptional progress each year.

"The success of the marathon is also a testament of our solid partnership with Standard Chartered Bank as an active and involved title sponsor, and we believe the marathon will continuously grow over the coming years to be one of the largest running events in Asia," he added.

The Standard Chartered KL Marathon also aims to encourage Malaysians to view sports as a way forward towards unity and national development, which is in line with the vision of the Sports Ministry.

Additionally, the marathon brings together runners and spectators from various countries, making it a major tourist attraction for the country.

Next year's marathon will continue to be a key calendar highlight as organisers continue to secure all aspects of the marathon to make it a positive and exciting running experience for participants.

With the introduction of more training programmes, additional incentives, new apparel designs as well as charity partners, the Standard Chartered KL Marathon will definitely be an event not to be missed.

Report: Larian Amal Kesihatan Seimbang: Fizikal & Mental

The event was collaboration between Hospital Sultan Sungai Petani and Sungai Petani Hash Hash Harrier running group. Not attractive category offered. Only 4 - Men, Women, Boys and Girls. Quite tough for Junior veteran like me. At least they should divide into 3 - Men Junior, Men Open and Men Veteran. Same goes to Women. So I opt to run as fun/syiok2 after Fansuri decide to join me in stroller.

In registration form said started at 7am. But I know any government's event will start behind schedule. Aerobic exercise and opening speech is a must. And worst thing was the VIP come late and gave long campaign speech. But luckily not Datuk Mukhriz, the Kubang Pasu MP. Brief speech, rasmi and trus kasi flag-off at 8am.



With Fansuri in stroller, we start late from behind. Let the others speed-up. Slowly I sayur them on hilly route to SP-AS main road. Some of them say hi to Suri. @2km thru Taman Ria houses, I ran comfortably. Not much runners blocking and less traffic. Along Taman Ria route there were alot of stalls serving breakfast so I think we entertained them while having teh tarik and roti canai.



Cikgu was waiting us somewhere in 2km after starting to check on Fansuri. She is happy. Talkative as usual. Cikgu passed her kuih pau. Great. At least I could focus on the run. Finish quickly as possible. While she having breakfast.

Turning left to Jalan Kelab Cinta Sayang, the traffic was busy. I had to be careful and asking for a lane from motorist when passing the 4 junction of traffic light - Thanks.

Running straight passing Kelab Cinta Sayang Resort, again Cikgu in the car and Jasmin with camera waiting @3km to finish line. Jasmin wearing jogging suit. So I persuade her to join. 2 of us + Fansuri ran together slowly until finish line in-front of Hospital Sultan Abdul Halim.

A few basic things I would like to comments..
1. Participants should given bib# or at least piece of color cloth to differentiate the category
2. Please no compulsory event t'shirt or disqualified those not wearing. I received S size after registered. Too small. Just keep inside stroller incase I finish in top place :)
3. Adult should divide into two categories - Open and veteran.

Menolak Anak Perempuan 3 Tahun Dalam Kereta Sorong di 10km Lumba Lari

Abdul Haris berusia 36 tahun menolak anak perempuan 3 tahun bernama Fansuri dalam kereta sorong bersama anak perempuan Jasmin (8tahun) menghabiskan 53 minit dalam perlumbaan lari 10km.

Dia suka berlari dan selalu membawa anak perempuan masuk dalam perlumbaan lari. Isterinya bernama Roziah Ramli (Guru, 36 tahun) bekerja di Gurun membawa bersama Alauddin (11 tahun) yang demam. Jadi dia tidak boleh berlari bersama.

Dia selalu masuk pertandingan merentas desa seperti Penang Bridge International Marathon dan selalu dapat hadiah Kali ini dia berlari bersama anak kecil dan anak perempuan dan lambat menamatkan larian, Jadi terkeluar dari senarai peserta 10 teratas. Walau bagaimana pun ia hanya larian amal, hadiah tidak penting.

En. Haris menghantar Alauddin dan Jasmin belajar di Sekolah Rendah Jenis (C) Sin Kou Min. Jasmin belajar di Darjah 2. Jasmin menghabiskan larian lebih 1 jam. Lebih laju dari orang dewasa.

News: Mt Kinabalu climbathon set to be more challenging

KOTA KINABALU: Mount Kinabalu International Climbathon is set to be even more challenging next year.

The new 23km route will require runners to race from Kinabalu Park up the mountain until Layang-Layang Hut. They will then go down the Mesilau trail before descending to Kundasang town at the foothill of the mountain.



Billed as the world's toughest mountain race, it is aimed at testing the endurance of competitors by running up and down Mount Kinabalu.

State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said next year's competition would be known as Mount Kinabalu International Climbathon: Adventure Series.

Come Oct 22 to 23, the 25th edition of the climbathon will be the final time that participants run the traditional 21km route up and down the 4,095m mountain.

The present route requires participants to run from Timpohon Gate the entry point to the summit trail to the peak and back.

Explaining the new route, Masidi said it was time for an overhaul of the race.

The new route will be thrilling and challenging for the runners.

He said the state wanted the competition to be a sports tourism event instead of just a sporting activity.

Meanwhile, those intending to climb Mount Kinabalu have an option to wear a climber tracker device thanks to an agreement between Sabah Parks, Celcom and its business partner Xtend Services Sdn Bhd.

Celcom will provide 50 devices for a trial period of three months to gauge their efficiency.

Masidi said climbers would have peace of mind knowing that in the event of a mishap, rescuers would know where to find them.

News: Patrick Makau sets new marathon world-record time of 2hr 03min 38sec

Kenya's Patrick Makau set a new world record as he successfully defended the Berlin marathon title, with the former record holder Haile Gebrselassie dramatically stopping for a minute during the race.



Makau clocked a stunning unofficial time of 2hr 03min 38sec , 21 seconds quicker than the time set by Gebrselassie over the same course in 2008.

Gebrselassie stepped off the road after 27km and looked like he wanted to vomit as he doubled over in pain, but after a minute he gingerly made his way back on to the course and continued running.

The race organisers then appeared to ask one of the pacemakers to wait for Gebrselassie to pace him back into the race, but the 38-year-old had no chance of catching Makau.

The 26-year-old had been under world-record pace throughout the race and never faded, even after losing the last of the six pacemakers.
