Nike Vomero 9

Bought another pair of reliable running shoes. Still serve me well and still my favorite companion while I'm on the road or track - Nike Pegasus+ 30.

It is my 5th pairs of Nike Pegasus model. Previous 4 models were Pegasus 2003, Pegasus 2005, Pegasus 2007 and Pegasus 28. Pegasus again? Ya... I will stick with Pegasus as long as I could run freely like a child..

Nike Pegasus+ 30

Bought at Hatyai Central Festival last week, a new shopping mall located nearby Greenway Shopping Market. A very huge shopping mall. They gave a 40% discount from retail price for this color - Great offer!

I prefer this Fortress Green color but it's 10% discount less than blue.

I grab it without thinking twice once the promoter said my size available (lucky me) and paid using cash from Google Adsense cheque.

Terima kasih to my readers and visitors and also Google - I'm running free.

LunarGlide+2 review

Penang Bridge Marathon result is out now. Click here.

I finished half marathon distance in 1:55:27.53. Nearly 3 minute earlier compare to recent PJ Half Marathon 2011 - 1:58.08. I'm not setting any timing except target to cross finish line without walking. Glad I could make it.

I wore my rusty Nike LunarGlide+ last Sunday. Initially I was thinking to retire that pair of shoes. Buat pakai pi jalan-jalan and going to office. But my new Nike LunarGlide+2 really troublesome. My legs hurts after did 3~4 long run training and racing @PJ Half. I had to do run-walk-run after reach 10k.

The LunarGlide+2 design abit different compare to LunarGlide+. They tight together lidah dengan kasut (I don't know technical term for that) so dia kasi problem bila nak bengkokkan kaki ke betis. Buat pakai jalan2 takpa, tapi after 10k run...peeeh sakit.

So I did minor surgery on that pair of shoes.

Test ran less 10km with modified LunarGlide2+ shoes is fine. But I need a long run test with it. Maybe in couple of weeks, before back to racing.

@APBIM, surprisingly first time my LunarGlide+ kasi sebijik blister on my feet after the run. I don't know why... Maybe because of socks, shoes got no absorber or kaki structure aku dah berubah? But after this I'm thinking about my trusted Nike Pegasus.

I don't want to try-test-try. Running shoes are expensive. Mau pakai Bata boleh tapi terima lar side-effect dia. For me, LunarGlide+2 is not suitable on the run... bawa pakai jalan2 memang dapat byk attraction :P

I have to bear with it for couple of years or maybe I put for auction. Anyone? Start with RM250.. Retail price was RM399.

New shoes - Brooks Cascadia 5

Bought another running shoes - Brooks Cascadia5. Recommend by saudara Rozmi Yunus. Actually he recommend new model of Cascadia6 but I prefer Cascadia5 because of color. Another reason is Cascadia5 received a lot of positive comments from the net prior to Cascadia4 which won "Editor's Choice" award from Runners' World magazine

Almost a month I could not do test run because of busy weekend.. raya, raining, racing, tight working schedule. So just walk with it to office. It is fine pair of shoes for daily routine. Comfortable. But quite slippery when walking on tiles. Other surface like road, carpet, grass landscape..no problem. Sedap pakai.

Last saturday, I did a test run on trail route. 10% pavement road and 90% jalan tanah merah. Pusing Bukit Air Nasi near to my house. Exactly behind AIMST university. Base on my motocycle odometer, total distance is 13km. The route passing kampung houses, ladang kelapa sawit and bukit2.

Bukit Air Nasi, covered by morning mist... nice weather that day.

Between 1~10km of running, I having no difficulty. Legs ok. Still mau lari lagi. Feet still comfortable. Stamina... fine. So far no need to walk. But somewhere after 11km, both my feet rasa macam mau develop blisters. My feet request a little bit of room. Mungkin pasai stokin?

I would like to do more test.. but I running-out of trail track - Sudah sampai rumah. Teh-O limau suam dok tunggu.

Belek kaki...emmm belom ada blister. Think, i need to test more distance on this shoes. Maybe >20k... after Penang Bridge Run.

Nike LunarGlide+ Review

.. from previous post - Nike LunarGlide+ First Impression.

Whether this model work fine with my legs, I remember George Shehaan said in his "Running to Win: How to Achieve the Physical, Mental and Spiritual Victories of Running" book,
"My perfect running shoes might be worst shoes to you"

So how detail or good about shoes technical info, still it will not guarantee works good on you. If your feet pronation matches with the shoes then it depend on how you run on it.

Men

Before that I need to describe a little bit about my training. Early 2009 I did a comeback after a year rest to setup my part-time business. Now, my weekday training are 3~4times per week. Mostly I could say 4. Sometimes 5 are max.

Usually my running route covers 60% of palm plantation, rubber estate thru kampung-kampung off-road. Another 40% on tarred road. On weekday my training distance between 6km~10km and 12km~18km on weekend. Beside long distance run, I rotate with cycling on Sunday.

My feet is normal arch type. As a normal pronator, you can wear just about any shoe including this model

Burn Test
Once in my feet, I could feel a light weight running shoes compare to my 2007 Pegasus. This shoe look fit. The laces also look different than Pegasus. During running, this shoe gave enough cushioning and comfortable. I could run a bit faster because of light in weight.

It gave no problem when I heading to kampong trail road including jalan tanah merah, jalan berpasir dan berbatu thru palm and rubber plantation. It also gave stability along my running. Once awhile I look down, I feel likes running with office shoes. I can't flush that kind of feeling. After 10km running, legs still fine.

Women

Until today I had ran number of training with LunarGlide+. Legs doing fine. Show no sign of leg injuries/aches after I ran slow and fast pace. Beside that, along testing period I notice the lace never untight/loose while running.

After 2 weeks of running and testing, slowly this model builds my trust to feature for it first racing - Baling International Duathlon. And last sunday, I really satisfied/happy with my timing. Complete the race within target and no walking in last running discipline compare to previous duathlon.

With Yaziz and Nike LunarGlide+ at Baling International Duathlon

Conclusion
After 5 years of jogging, running and racing with 3 models of Pegasus, I could say.. i found my Pegasus replacement. I'm happily to retire my Pegasus 2007 and wear it in casual activities.

For LunarGlide+, there will be more racing awaiting and lastly I would said many thanks to Nike Sales (M) Sdn Bhd, KL for their generous and trust in me to test their new running shoes - Nike LunarGlide+.

Nike LunarGlide - First impression

When i open the Nike orange box, Nike LunarGlide+ look likes my office safety boot. Ya! right we're required to wear safety boot in plant compound. The shoes comes almost in black color and striking orange sole.

Usually running shoes always fancy. Regardless any brand or model. They use contra colors to make it attractive, sporty and creating fun mode while running. And sometimes it caught my eyes looking at runners' shoes during racing especially the elite runners.

Initially it is important factor to attract and stop potential buyer while competing with other shoes/brand on shelf before they being touch, hold and test pakai. The all black color (except the swoosh) look likes office shoes. I had enough looking shoes color like that. Normally when i in shoes outlet, I'm looking for pronation type, fancy and follow by brand.

LunarGlide+ available in two color only. This model is Men In Black while another white color is for women. Got no choice. A good reason for men, we no need to wash regularly. Can enjoy running all day long.

Weight? Ya quite light compare to my Pegasus 2007 although my current shoes got no "pick-up" already - Suspension kureng. I don't know about the cushioning. No test yet.

Next.. i will be writing more after test drive.

Meanwhile i tested walk around with this stuff in office, my colleague notice a my different "safety boot" by striking orange sole - This stuff really attractive.

Next review - Test and Racing.
